American law is based on English common law, so it would be my guess that the owner of the dog who bit your dog is responsible for the vet bills (that's the way it is in America). We have city commissioners here who make local laws - don't know if you have an equivalent over there, but I would call if you do. They'll be able to help you. Also, ask your vet - I'm sure it's not the first time they've heard this kind of problem.

Poor puppy! I hope he gets better soon. Good luck!

I don't know what they do in the UK, but when it happened to my dog here in the US, I wrote a certified letter to the owner advising him that because his dog bit my dog, I was holding him responsible for the vet bills. I made arrangements with my vet to bill the dog owner, and when he didn't pay, I filed suit. Just getting the lawsuit served on him by the sheriff was enough to make him reach into his pocket and pull out some cash.

Good luck to you, and good luck to your poor doggie!

You should report this incident thru your humane society or Animal control and then in most cases you will have to go to civil court to enforce payment for the negligence of the other owner.Keep all records and take pictures of the wound as well.Poor PUP!
