Yup, that's why I like debating religion so much. It's easy to just go through life without thinking about it, but if you have to explain and justify your beliefs to others, then you need to have arguments that make sense. Also, when other people challenge my beliefs I like to answer them. This means that I have to take their objection seriously and understand my response. It makes me do more research and sometimes discover new reasonings. It can strengthen one's faith or make it crumble, but I feel that either way it's a good thing. One should never blindly cling to an idea.

No. Because every single query that makes some of the more fundamental users of all faiths delve deep into their set of beleifs and "doctrine" is met with hostility, and therfore, the querent gets nowhere. Just more justification that certain people are what they may have assumed all along.

Sure. Life does...you must always examine what you believe-it drives your life, your decisions, and your future. Many things can cause this re-examination to occur, and it's not always something external.

No. But I have found it interesting to consider why I'm an atheist and what are the best arguments to back up my position. And it's fascinating, and often funny, to hear what others think.
