Was the experience successful? If not? what was wrong? Has the fluid leaked out at night causing any damage to the gums or teeth?

Ok, first of all let me get things a little bit more clear for you. I have tried the home bleaching kit at night and trust me it's not recommended. The experience was successful but here's why you shouldn't do it.

My employer (ie. the dentist) and I had this conversation when I first started working a few years ago, and when you wear these trays you're only suppose to wear the gel for 30 minutes. This means you can wear it when you're watching your favourite television show, or cooking, reading etc. After 30 minutes, rinse and if you want to continue with the procedure....you can go ahead and do so but you have to put a NEW APPLICATION of gel again. The most you can wear the gel is 1 hour, because many studies have shown that after an 1 hour the gel is no longer effective. Therefore, wearing it on all night long will only cause you sensitivity.

I would not recommend wearing it at night or out and about. It's not easy talking in it and it's really meant for home use.

It is true that if you smoke, drink soda, red wine, coffee and tea...the effects of the gel won't be the paper white results you're looking for, and the zoom procedure won't fix that either.

Zoom 2 works well but if you're not planning on spending that much on this procedure, the at home bleaching kit is the way to go. The at home bleaching kit is EXACTLY the same procedure as zoom 2. Zoom 2 just gives you the results within 24 hours of having it done because we use an ultraviolet light, and the procedure lasts 2 hours (including prep). The at home bleaching kit is a bit slower, but you only have to do it for 14 days.

Fluid only leaks if you put too much gel into the tray, and it doesn't cause any damages to the gums or teeth. Bleaching is completely safe, the only thing bleaching is known to do is cause sensitivity, but that goes away after a few hours.

Please also note, if you're a bit older (40++) bleaching isn't all that effective either because of mineral density that is seen in the teeth and varies with each individual.

I hope this helps!! Good Luck!!

Yes I am a dental assistant and I have done it and I have only had to touch them up maybe once or twice in a 4 year period maybe more. It all depends opn your lifestyle and habits. If you smoke, drnik dark colas or red wine and especially tea and coffee then no it won't last as long. Unless you rinse out your mouth immediately after drinking or eating dark foods. Smoking shouldn't be done all togehter cause then yes your teeth will darken again. The only reason your gums would burn is that you didn't place the material in the trays the proper way. If you add too much then yes the material will run out onto your gums and burn them. The only other reason they would burn is if you are allergic to the gel. Me myself would do the zoom bleaching. It takes about 1-2 hours and gets you up to 8 shades+ brighter depending on your teeth. You can always follow up with the trays. Also, you don't have to wear the trays just at night, you can wear them at work or during the day. But you should wear then for at least 4 hours and no more than 10 or you will get sensitivity. Best of luck!

Something you need to know before doing home bleaching. Do you have any composite resin fillings(tooth colored fillings) in your front teeth. If you do, when your teeth become whiter, the fillings will not. That formerly invisible filling, will now appear as a dark half moon shaped filling in those new whiter teeth.

I use the strips. I have seen a difference but not like the TV fake thing. It works ok, but you will look better.
