What is the sick crap that makes me want what I can't have...I got seriously hurt by an ex now I can't find a nice available guy (NO I am not looking for one though this questions keep moving sicko)...I like (but don't touch) all the ones I can't have. Any thoughts on breaking this new painful cycle short of counseling?

Why is the grass always greener on the other side. It isn't really, but sometimes we think it is.
We often want something that we don't need, or can even use.
But as we get older and wiser, hopefully, we can learn to evaluate what we want better, and make better decisions.
So just weigh why you really want this or that guy, make a list if you have to. Sometimes by writing it down, over a period of time, we see a pattern emerging.
You have started thinking of your problem already, and can see you are doing something self destructive. So now you are on the right course and questioning yourself.

While the other answers are probably true, isn't something even simpler at work here? It's logical that you want the ones you can't have, because you don't yet have the one you want. Therefore all the ones you want are ones you can't have.

that is what you call life.
there is nothing you can do about it but play with the game life offers and you dont have to win.
you learn. try to wait sweety.
dont make things harder on you.
it might hurt you more.
time heals.
and be more careful nextime.

we want what we cant have because it makes it seem like that person is great just because they are with someone...but its not always the case...you just need to stop worrying about other people and open yourself to others and someone will come along for you

What is it that you want and can't have? Your sister's man? Your uncle? your brother? I really don't understand.....if you want something, no one is stopping you from getting it but you. Just don't do anything you are going to regret like falling in love with your sister's man.
