He seems to repeat his words silently, not all the time but enough that I have taken notice. It also seems to be happening more often.I would like to know what could cause this and should I be worried.

Does he only repeat himself, or does he also repeat you, the TV, or others?
If he's repeating what others say, it could be echolalia. Echolalia is the repetition or echoing of verbal utterances made by another person. Its a symptom of autism.

Or it could be that he just really enjoys how the word sounds. We all do it.

Snickerdoodle. (How many people just repeated that in their head or said it out loud?)

Hmm...I would wait and see if it lasts longer than a month maybe? It could be as simple as him just wanting to repeat the words he said, or it could be the early signs of maybe autism or OCD. If a grown person was doing that at least ya know? It might not apply for a child, at least not the OCD.

Your child is trying to talk to fast.. My daughter does that and she 3yrs old.. I think it nothing to worry about. When they start to go to school were I live there is a special program for speech.. I would be to concern if I was you. Just tell him to slow down or once he is finish his sentence just repeat it back to him(to make him understand really how to say what he was trying to say)

My brother does this, it can be a form of OCD, but it is more likely a vocal tic that could be symptom of aspergers or autism.

You've shared his age. If he's little he may still learning language skills and thinking about them. If he's older I'm not sure what would be going on.

If he goes to school you could ask his teacher what he/she thinks.

Nothing really. He'll probably grow out of it in a few months. Perhaps you should ask him why he does it.

i would deff. say he is suffering from OCD ............. he needs to see a neurologist, becuse this could soon turn to anger, and he may become crazy, LITERALLY!
