Well it would be very difficult because of the amount of time away you guys would be apart and the thought of you or him not knowing what you guys are doing. It is hard, but can be done with a lot of trust. The only thing I don't understand is why be in a long distance relationship if you live in Cali? Cali is definitely the place to have fun and meet a lot of people.

Everyone asks about long distance relationships and it all depends on what you make out of it. You're either going to make the best of it or you will make the worst of it along with him. Since he is in the Navy he will have much else on his mind, but will still have you in heart. You are in VA I am guessing part time job, full time, or college. You're going to be lonely, the only thing you can do is be patient but it can work out. Just don't ever ever cheat on him.

I used to live in Northern California & met a wonderful lady in Texas thru a personal ad. Sure it was 2500mi apart, but after many letters & weekly phone calls it all worked out & we got married on Dec 19 1998. But like any relationship it does take time & like a good wine or cheese it does age quite well!

You have a very difficult road to travel because of the distance, but, it is workable. That is, if you love each other because you both know that both of your situations are temporary. You will be out of college sometime within the next few years and he will be station in many different places for how many years he wants to serve his country. I do support our servicemen and I ask that you thank him for me for serving. It is better for a sailor to know he has someone home waiting for him when comes into port. Good Luck!

Of course it can, you both just have to put effort into making it work! If you both are serious about being together, then everything can work out! Communication is key, be open and honest with eachother. Absence makes the heart grow fonder!

If you are both committed to the relationship... if you both are willingly to do extra work... and if you have enough money to visit and talk often. I believe it can. Impossible is an opinion, not fact. And sometimes it's better to try then to have regrets.

Unless you can fly up there every weekend, i don't think so. I mean it's possible, but you can't be the jealous type because you'll always be suspecting something.

Sure, my boyfriend went to S. Korea when I was in Nebraska going to college. Just make sure you have time to get to know him before you get back. One hint....he will treat you how he treats his mother and also similar to the way his father treats his mother....(what he's used to....) so watch it before you get married!
