People don't understand your question and why you ask. It's not that your dog doesn't like the cage, it probably has separation anxiety (as most every dog does). Crate training is part of the process...and the magic word is "crate" which is fancy or politcally correct for "cage." I've got two dogs, both been thru training neither liked it, now they are well behaved and wonderful dogs. Good luck with your training.

I totally agree with you. My dog has a cage and it uses it as a safe place to go or when it is tired. The dog knows it won't be touched when it is in there so especially during the summer months he likes to lay in there catching the breeze from the front door.
As long as the cage is big enough for the dog to turn around in and lay down comfortably then there is nothing wrong with it whatsoever!
If your puppy is still upset about going in the cage, just make sure it has a favourite toy in there and leave the door open for a few days so he goes in there of his own free will. When playing, throw or roll the ball into the cage so he will go in there and get it. Make it a fun game for him, that way, when you have to put it in there it won't be so traumatic.
Good luck

That's people for you, it makes their lives's burdens easier if they can point a finger at someone else. As for crating your dog. I never have done that with any of my pets. But, that's not to say that I won't in the future. I know a lot of people who do, and their dogs are just as happy as mine are. Try taking a small blanket, play with your puppy with it. At night while you and your puppy watch T.V. have the blanket with you,(you want your scent, and the puppies scent on it). When you put puppy in the crate, put the blanket in there too. Do the blanket first. Like all training, it will take time. Good luck to you, and the puppy.

Hey, dogs are natural denning animals. It's fine to leave your puppy in a create overnight and up to 8 hours (build up to that many hours) as long as you make water and food available.
Crating is also a good way to house break a puppy. Make sure to take the puppy outside to do its business immediately after taking it out from the crate.
