I need help deciding where to go for exchange through AFS. I get three choices. One of them is Spain. I have narrowed it down to Germany, France, Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, and Italy. What would you pick and why? Thanks for your help
I posted this in languages because this forum is pretty active.

Spanish or French would be the best choices considering relevancy in the world. Germany is OK if you have specific interests in the area - or if you think you often will have to deal with Germans. German is the most similar language to learn - and quite a few Germans can speak English. So you'll be integrated the quickest.

Switzerland is nonsense to learn any language, and I'm Swiss myself. German is only written the "real" way, the everyday communication is Swiss-German which hardly any German would understand - and it's hard to learn.

Netherlands and Norway? Norway is an interesting country for economic reasons, and there's as much money around as in Switzerland. But what would you do with Norwegian or Dutch??

I'd pick either Spain (cause it's easier to learn Spanish and it's pretty there) Germany ( They will speak English if you have trouble) Netherlands ( Dutch people are nice and the country is beautiful) **** France (You have trouble with the French language and no one wants to help, also some parts of France really stinks and a lot of people are rude there) But most of all, I'd pick Italy ( the people, food and sites to see are really nice) Italy would be worth it.

From what I have gathered both Germany and Spain would be great. Going to any of them is great!!! Congrats on making the choice to study abroad! It will one of the best moves in your college life. Netherlands sounded not as exciting as the other - you would want to travel. Where as, Spain is nice enough not to want to leave too much. It all depends on what you are looking for. To learn the language, get drunk, experience culture, etc. Good luck and stay safe [don't get sold for camels in Egypt]!

Switzerland is a terrible place to learn a language, is all I can say.
I'd pick Italy, Italy's cool. Or Germany, I'd like to learn German.

I would pick Spain, France, or Italy.

Spanish, French, and Italian aren't called the Romance languages for nothing. :)
