I believe it would be more corrupt and hateful than it is today. I know that is hard to believe since so many people are killed in the name of various religions around the world. I do believe though that religion, that isn't corrupted by man, acts as a guideline on how to be civilized around others.

A Geologist, think about the reasons for most wars were based on Religious concerns, we would not have Hell, Purgatory, punishment, nuns, priests, elders, etc., to perpetuate the false hope of getting to heaven by being good, of course being good means giving your money to the religious sect of your choice.

Religions for years have demeaned women, minorities, the poor, the downtrodden, etc., there are no women priests in the catholic religion, how about them Mormons???? they really treat their women on an equal basis!!!!

Don't forget HELL the place you will go for eternity if you disobey any of the rules that the religious leaders put down. And of course if you are not a "born again" Christian you will go to hell anyway.

You cannot win with religions, they are created by man to worship a Deity of their own design. How many Gods are there?

Buddha
Allah
Jesus
God
Who knows what the Scientologists believe in other than Tom Cruise and no screaming.
What about the Hindu gods??

Lets do without religion and believe in what we feel is right and correct and I am sure the world will be a better place.....

Imagine there's no heaven,
it's easy if you try,
no hell below us,
above us only sky.
Imagine all the people,
living for today yu-huh.
Imagine there's no countries,
it isn't hard to do,
nothing to kill or die for,
and no religion too.
Imagine all the people,
living life in peace yu-huh.
You may say I'm a dreamer
but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us,
and the world will be as one.
Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
no need for greed or hunger,
a brotherhood of man.
Imagine all the people,
sharing all the world yu-huh.
You may say I'm a dreamer ...

A good chunk of the world was without religion for nearly a century - the Iron Curtain. Far from the peacable place religion's detractors imagine, it was instead the bloodiest place to be in the bloodiest century the world has EVER known.

Suffice it to say religion may keep our crueler nature in check to a far greater extent than people realize...

Just religion?

It wouldn't be all that different from what it is now. People are people. They will love and hate each other no matter what the ideology is. There will still be war, and violence, and intolerance. There will still be people who take advantage of other people for personal gain. There will still be major chasms between the haves and have nots. The poor will be hungry and sick and resentful. The rich will be blind and apathetic. There will still be science and art and medicine.

Personally, I would feel "empty," because there is a part of me that is fulfilled by my religion.

It would definitely be more peaceful. It seems to me as if the motivation behind many of the conflicts in this world and a factor contributing to them is religion.

We would find something else to hate eachother for and raise the bar on it!!!That's just human nature-to compete & be jealous and hate others for no good reasons!
Religion seems to bring order to those that believe in it-some/most religious people fear what may happen in the afterlife...in return they try not to do as many bad things as they would like to do(harm others, molestation, sex with neighbors wife/husband,steal,lie,etc.)...
there are enough people that do not have a care to do such acts...can you imagine if no one had any fear...the world may be in chaos and/or not as we know it today!Lets take a Catholic priest for example--his beliefs tell him it is wrong to molest children...he fears his God...that may stop him from molesting all the children that are in his presence..or at least limit him!
Lets take a buddy of mine for example--he kinda believes in God...he thinks that there's a hell...he believes if he breaks the 10 commandments he will go to hell when he dies-he fears that thought...also,he has the urge to shoot people that cut him off on the road...he'd like to smash peoples heads that are insensitive to others that are weak...he wants to assasinate alot of corrupt politicians.I believe the world is safer with him believing there is a God...what say you my dear...would you like for him to not believe in any religion...and what of others that have sick thoughts but do not act their thoughts out because of their beliefs(religion)???
