I got paid money to read.........should I take it?

I was walking around town, reading my quran. The street commisioner saw me, and ask me if the City could hire me to walk around with my quran opened and fog for misquitoes.

Would this be a sin of Shirk, if I accepted money?

I mean, if I let smoke blow, I may as well get paid? right?
