Technically, not it's not. But then again, when I was really worried about having my snacks still there and waiting for me when I got back to my desk, I would put them in a drawer out of sight. Depending on the type of candy it is, there can be something implied about the candy left out that suggests it's up for grabs. I mean, I wouldn't even consider grabbing someones chocolate bar if it was sitting there all by itself. Now if it was a dish of candies of some sort, hell yeah, help yourself and enjoy!

No. It is her chocolate. If you get a craving buy your own bag. Just because she left them out does not mean they are free game. Maybe she forgot to put them up at the end of the day. Have you ever got home from work and remembered you should have done something before you left, But were in a hurry to get home so you forgot? She could have done the same thing. Have respect and stay out of things you yourself did not buy.

Are they yours??
Did she say "Feel free to help yourself to anything I might leave out?"
If you said "NO" to both of these - they're not fair game. That's not going to keep unethical people from eating them and trying to justify their actions though.
Life is full of ugly lesson - like learning that your co-workers have no ethics and can't even be trusted with candy.
If you accidently left your wallet sitting out - would you like people to take your cash - or do the right thing by placing it somewhere safe so that you can get it back when you return.
I, myself, believe in Karma - what goes around, comes around.
I hope you did the right thing!

Yes, it is all right, especially because you have a shared desk situation. We have a chocolate repository at my office and we all contribute when we can. If I leave things out on my desk, I expect other people to eat it-that's why I left it out.

LOL. I would say, if it's a chocolate bar, don't eat it. If it's a box of chocolates, go for it. If she gets mad, just buy her some chocolate. Can it be THAT expensive (it's not the Scharfenberger kind, is it)?
If she didn't put it away or her name on it, I think it's fair game.

If you took off your watch and left it on the desk and went home did you leave it their for the next desk jockey to take home or give away, or did you trust and hope that it would be there when you returned. If you wanted to give it away wouldn't you put a help yourself sticker on it?

The last time I left a Three Musketeers bar on my desk over a week-end, a mouse got a hold of it. So I'd say why not. I'd rather you get it then a mouse !!

Or answer them in a faux Polish accessory asserting you're new on the job and whilst precisely they choose you to return by potential of to scrub the place of work. Or ask them in case you will desire to first spend a couple of minutes in silent easy prayer and then talk approximately God seeing that your denomination demands which you ensure with regards to the religious purity of each guy-made product. Wait a minute in the time of which you would be able to answer some questions approximately yahoo. Then tell them to circulate to Hell. ;) Anna

Take them and replace them with fruit instead. You will be her savior by comsuming all those delicious calories and giving her something healthy instead. It's like taking a bullet for her except without the pain and suffering.

In my office when people leave stuff out it means it's meant to be shared. But just don't be a hog. Eat one or two pieces, not all of it!
