The REAL reason? Those who follow Christianity often find it easiest to follow everything literally. Otherwise, they would have to evaluate EVERYTHING. If the bible is inaccurate, what else in the religion is???
But, there ARE those who are thinking people who disbelieve for other reasons. Evolution is the best theory with the evidence that we have. However, there are several unexplained holes in the theory. Its pretty clear humans got here from ape (anyone who disagrees, take an anthropology course for cryin out loud!)...but the theory still doesn't explain how something SO complicated got here. I can believe chance would create amino acids, which create proteins, which mix with sugars and create a strand or two of DNA...but to believe that it all evolved into beings as complicated as we are today...that gets harder.
Plus, we find that species mysteriously appear and disappear...there is very little evidence of change in other species.
Basically, I'll go along with evolution until a better theory arrives. Evolution is most likely with the info we have...but its far from perfect.

I do. There is no question about the anthropoligical findings of primitive man's bones defining the evolution of the human specie. But it can only remain as such, one specie distinct and separate from the rest of the species in the animal kingdom. There's more than enough room for tens of thousands of differing species in this globe we call Planet Earth.
The theory of Evolution that hangs on "almost a fact", as you put it, that humans evolved from ANOTHER specie becomes a moot point when you can't get the next most intelligent animal to read, write and do some 'rithmetic. And the argument even worsens when Evolutionists [Darwinists et al] maintain that a "missing link" exists somewhere, which is a misnomer to begin with since such a link has NEVER BEEN FOUND YET and, therefore, it cannot be missing at all! Get the point?
And worst of all, when the Big Bang Theory is postulated --that everything came 'to be' from gaseous and nothingness [short version here]-- the question remains: WHO put it there in the first place?? See the dilemma here too... So the unending saga of debates between Evolutionists and Creationists continues ad nauseum...
But truly, for what purpose do these debates are when one talks of HOW it happened and the other is WHY it happened. Get it?? Huh???
Peace be with you!

DNA and the human body are far too complex to be thrown together by chance. DNA is a very complex organic computer program that could never evolve. So either you believe in the ET seed theory, or in a Designer. Evolution requires billions of years to even get to the simple cell. In fact, the simple Bacterial Flagellum has a acid-powered rotary propulsion system that works like an electric motor! http://www.meta-library.net/media/flglm-lg.jpg
Sorry, the sun would have been too hot only a million years ago to sustain life.
Now, suppose a secular scientist were sent to investigate a meteor that impacted the earth. Upon scraping the crust away, the scientist is amazed to find a perfect, sphere of polished metal. Back at the lab, he sees that he can unscrew the hemispheres apart. Inside he finds a very elaborate system of gyros, propulsion and visual cameras. If damaged, the internal systems can repair itself. Would the scientist marvel at how long it took to have such a mechanism accidentally evolve in space? Or would he choose to believe it was created by an advanced designer somewhere outside of terrestrial domain? Because he is a secular scientist, he has no problem with thinking the latter. Yet if we say we believe in a Creator, we are branded as unscientific or mindless zealots.
In order for the math of evolution to be even remotely possible, you would need millions of years of mutation and adaptation. . John A. Eddy (Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics) and Aram A. Boomazian (mathematician with S. Ross Co.) have determined that the sun has been contracting about 0.1% per century. The data examined spanned a 400-year period of solar observation, so that this shrinkage of the sun, though small, is apparently continual. If the sun was larger in the past than it is now by 0.1% per century, a creationist, who may believe that the world was created approximately six thousand years ago, has very little to worry about, for the sun would have been only 6% larger at point of origin to now. However, 100 thousand years ago, the sun would have been twice the size it is now, and it is hard to imagine that any life could exist under such altered conditions. Yet 100 thousand years is a minuscule amount of time when dealing with traditional evolutionary time scales.
Science has its own set of beliefs and faiths. Evolution, which is merely a theory accepted as fact, is just an agenda to keep God out of the public arena. If those who wish to cast out any form of religion out of the schools, they must also do the same with evolution--it is a faith with just as many zealots.
Remember this, and never forget. Science is limited to the physical. Your soul is eternal. The Bible deals with what is eternal where science cannot venture. The physical realm will pass away, and science will pass away with it. What you want to do is latch onto that which will last forever, and that is the Word of God.
Matthew 24:35
Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away."

The only evolution I believed is the conception of a human life inside a mothers womb because we all witness it. Besides. evolution poses more questions than it answers like, what are we evolving too? If something could evolved out of something, how come everything has patterns of evolving and comes out exactly the way we expected it? Heck, I'm confused now...sorry to confuse you too. But those bones examples...you know what I'm talking about...they are doubtful. And come to think of it, it could have been millions of years already since the supposedly first evolution had begun so we should have witness or seen one by now. Then they say they had found the missing link too, I just didn't believe it...Mike Tyson is very doubtful though.

I believe that most people who disagree with evoloution are either:
1. Not Educateed, meaning never taken an course to deal w/ the theory
2.Stuck in their religous views
3.closed minded
4.or just not listening
Sorry guy,get used to this type of behavior. It seems no matter how much education you have and the classes you have taken, common folk will never accept anything you say, it is always debatable until one,you have a degree to back it up or they seek your help and value your opinions, or respect your perspective. I get this all the time as a sociology major no one accepts what i say works,it is only regarded as opinions and always over looked even though I have spent years studying this.

Well, there is not much evidence to support it. If you looked at what the scientist say that do not believe evolution is possible, you may come to understand that it an old theory that is loosing out to modern science. Many scientist still hold on to evolution (slightly just over 50% as of a 1998 poll), but nearly half do not. Some refuse to embrace creation, but they have are re-looking at a theory supported by Einstein's and a few others over 50 years ago. Its called I. D. It is not a creationist theory, although many creationist like it. People who believe in evolution , including scientist refuse to debate this issue opnely with scientist who believe in creation. Too many evolutionist had their clocks cleaned by creationist. We need to force this issue to the debate table and let the scientist fight it out over facts, not speculation. Remember, all scientist look at the same evidence, they just start with their minds already made up. We'll get nowhere like that.

Give me proof that evolution is true....show me one person who is in a "middle" phase of evolution....get a better way of proving things than circular reasoning....explain why the universe is slowing down and having increasing entropy, and not becoming more evolved and better such as evolution says. Explain the laws of thermodynamics with evolution. Explain why no one has been able to find enough proof to make the whole world believe in evolution. Explain all these things, than maybe I'll believe.

It is too hard for them to understand. I'm not saying that they are stupid, indeed, many are quite intelligent, but unless you labored over it, you will probably only hear the simply, crude, "monkeys became men" (which makes evolution look like it's demeaning). Creationism, is a concept that most people can understand quite quickly (in comparison to evolution). Furthermore, creationism, operates by "this is the truth" because we said so, while evolutionists actually are constantly looking for holes in their theories (this is to prevent wrong information from being taught). Most people will rather believe something that many say is true, then something that even the supporters (like me) are trying to find faults with.

i dont believe because it makes no sense. u mean i evolved from a protozoan. yeah right. u know how tiny those things are? if evolution is true, why arent monkey and human reproductive systems compatible? why are there still protozoa and such, shouldnt they have evolved into higher level organisms? everything has to be created, they cant just 'form' from nowhere. how did they become living? it makes no sense, that every thing just became, there had to have been someone who created, who was not created. if u think about it u will get my point.

All of the principal churches accept evolution as valid science, it is only the extremists who read the scripture as a literal science document in parts, but ignore its science statements in other parts, such as the Earth being flat, the center of the solar system, etc., who have a problem with it.
Keep reading the science and ignore the creationists. They will fade away.
Evolution is a threat to sola scriptura, or scripture alone, and it is not a threat to Christianity. It attacks the foundations of Protestantism, but it doesn't really impact Christianity otherwise.
