I drink it occassionally, but only vanilla flavored in smoothies and when I order a soy latte. What are the benefits? Is it really healthier that regular milk? Is one brand better than another?

What is so great about soy milk is, firstly, that it doesn't come from a cow. That means people who are lactose intolerant can drink it with no ill effects -- and believe me, that is a biggie! The second thing that is so great about it is the nutritional value. All that protein with none of the animal fats that can be so harmful to anyone with high cholesterol readings, or high blood pressure.
And the third thing is that you can flavour it to suit yourself. Vanilla is good, or carob -- that's a natural food that tastes like chocolate but doesn't have any of the bad stuff in it that chocolate does -- or you can use it as a base for smoothies and pop whatever kind of fresh fruit you want, in with the soy milk. Some people like one brand, others like another. I think that's just a matter of individual taste.

Soy milk is a great source of protein for both omnivors (meat and vegetable eating) and vegetarians/vegans. It tastes great, because you are getting all of the benefits of protein and iron without the fat that comes from animals.

It is healthier than milk when talking about protein, but not in calcium.

No brand is better, try organic!

The benefits of soy out way the cow's milk variety. In older women it is good for menopause . It reduces the risk of symptoms as the phytoestrogen's in soy milk is helpful. It is probably better then regular milk as it has no lactose especially essential for those who are lactose intolerant. To answer your question as to whether or not one brand stands out form the rest my answer is no.

Be careful not to overdue it with the soy products. They are beneficial in small doses, not large quantities. They can actually negatively affect health in women if taken in large amounts. "Everything in moderation!".
