For your age, the only thing really is food service.
You can check local shops like fast food, the mall or even ice cream store or smoothie stores like jamba juice.
You can see if your parent's company is hiring and you can be a clerk and do filing, but that's a bit boring.

The best summer jobs are the ones you make for yourself. Start up a lawn mowing business, babysit, or start a dog walking service, or a pet sitting service in general, or be a gopher (run errands and do odd jobs for people)...things like that.
These are great because you are setting your own hours, you don't have to deal with pain-in-the-butt co-workers, and you don't lose any of your money to taxes.
It's a great experience, you'll make some money, and you'll still be able to enjoy your summer.
Wishing you the best of luck!!

If you've played baseball, check out working as an umpire. Some parks pay pretty well, particularly those that use an umpires association. There's always a need for good umpires, you're outside and involved in the game. Much better than flippin burgers or worshiping a giant rat (Chucky).

I second the umpire suggestion. We always need one at my son's games. If you went to summer camp before maybe you can be a CIT. I don't know if they get paid or not, but it looks great on your resume. You can also try volunteering and then next year you'll have a great reference for when you get a job next year.

Clean people's houses. Detail people's car. Feed their cats & dogs when they are on vacation. Yardwork. Babysitting. Do their grocery shopping, do their laundry, ironing, clean out gutters, paint houses. What do people in your neighborhood seem to need and want? Provide it for a price.
