You don't have to spend a lot to get drinkable wine. Avoid the big names. When you shop, ask if you can talk to the wine buyer. They are usually very eager to help. Wine lovers feel a passion for their drink. The real answer is that your palette will change as you get more experience and drink more wine. When I started drinking wine, it was white zinfindel and other blushes. Then I moved on to sweet whites, like riesling. Today, I almost never drink whites and I would be dead before you saw a white zinfindel near me. That is part of the joy of wine. It isn't coke vs. Pepsi. Drinking wine is a lifetime search for a kind of beauty.

Banana Wind is right, and stay away from white Zinfandel's as they are already so done and give you a headache the next day, Although you say you don't care for Merlot try chill-able red in the box it rocks.

Try Chateau St. Michelle Riesling. It's not bitter, it's smooth, kinda sweet. It really compliments seafood dishes, chicken etc. I just got it at the grocery on sale for like 9 bucks. It ranges from 8-15+ dollars. Good Stuff :)

make your own, its good cause it can be really cheap, and you can make it out of just bout anything. Or else you could go to the grocery store or wine store and look for the dollar bottle they are trying to get rid of. I dont buy much here in the states after going to europe it just seems like it costs way too much here.

Arbor Mist is really good. (Don't know what you might consider weak.) There are now 10 flavors to choose from. I haven't tried them all. I normally stick with Exotic Fruit White Zinfendel. It has 6% alcohol. It costs from $3.14(walmart) to $4 something.

well first you like white wine and you don't absolutely have to want to spens a ton.
I would suggest lighter whites like Reislings (mostly sweetest), Savignon Blanc (Fruity, but not as sweet), Pinot Grigio (usually drier and from italy)
STOP drinking white zinfandel now. Its the Kmart/Walmart of wines period. move up into the grown up tables with better wines and drink what you like....
