I have to reinstall it in order to have the internet

how do I reinstall on top of windows?? Is this complicated?? Or will a popup come up and ask me if this is what I want to do?

Well, why don't you back up all your files to a flashdrive or CD.
Then format your drive and reload Windows.. But if you do reload why in your right mind would you want to place 98 on when WIN 2000 or XP is the way to go?

If FOR some reason you can't backup your data to another drive or CD, you can reinstall Windows on top of itself and you will not lose any of the data on the drive.

simple. just copy all ur files in D or E or F drive of ur computer.
than format C drive. and u can reinstall ur windows 98 or any.
ur files wont be deleted.
but dont try to format ur D or E or F drive.

One of your options will be "repair this installation". Choose this one. You won't lose all your files unless you reformat your hard drive. Still, I would back up anything that's REALLY important (such as naked pictures of your congressman, etc) before proceeding.

Incidentally, what are you using to access the net right now? An out of body experience, or something?

well reinstall windows over the top of windows, that should fix any damaged files.
