cold cuts of meat, like ham and chicken.

Also, a little dot of butter in the top when you serve it is really nice.

I agree with some of these and don't (alot) with others. Definitely bready (is that a word?) type things. Not some huge meat meal because it is very much a meal in itself with a side of something. A smaller sandwich is perfect. Or like some have suggested, a side of bread.

Ooh, the potato soup is weak comment - you can make it ANY WAY you want. Strong, weak, creamy, etc.

i hate potato soup...parent's use to make me eat it and if i didn't, i'd do w/o supper...but that was so nasty...i think u should serve it w/ bread and butter and some beef noodles that you can get made by Lipton and Knorr, not sure if those two would be good together since they're both like soups, but i'd eat the noodles anyway. lol.

Sourdough bread. I get potato soup in a bread bowl at the Corner Bakery and it tastes soo great.

Cheese biscuit recipe made with biscuit ingredients, dry mustard, butter, shredded cheese, parsley, and a little milk for brushing biscuit tops.
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups all-purpose flour, sift before measuring
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
3 tablespoons butter
2/3 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
3/4 cup milk plus a little milk for brushing tops
PREPARATION:
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and dry mustard; cut in butter. Stir in shredded cheese, 2 tablespoons chopped parsley, and milk. Mix together lightly with a fork, just until moistened. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently a few times, until smooth. Roll out about 3/4-inch thick and place on a greased and floured baking sheet. Brush tops with milk; bake at 450° 20 to 25 minutes, until browned.
Makes 1 dozen cheese biscuits.

Always go opposite. So since potato soup is weak, you need strong. Pork is very strong. Also Corned Beef with some sauteed onions or saurkraut.

I serve mine sprinkled with cheese with homemade multigrain bread. Kids like to swim Goldfish crackers in theirs too.
