I've heard that Pat's and Geno's down in the Italian section have been duking it out for a while but I also remember some place out by an entrace to some pier or bridge, I forget where it was. It might have been Sonny's but it's been a long time.

I also remember seeing some plaque in/around those resturants about some area newspaper had voted them the best so if you have a link to that that would be a real big help too.

I have tried both Pat's and Geno's. Both rather plain and greasy. I did not care for either.

If it's between Pat's or Geno's, then I say Pat's. Both have won "Best of Philly" by Philadelphia Magazine (www.phillymag.com) at point or another I'm sure. The magazine did a huge cheese steak issue a while back, I think sometime last year. I, however, am a Jim's steak fan - 4th and South. And you have to get it "with whiz."

I live in Philly all my life and I have both geno's and pat's cheese steak. They are both locatiion in South Philly. I had cheese steaks from both places and I think they are both great but the are also other places to get a cheese steak besides them. You can always get a cheese steak at Tony and Luke's but it's so hard to decide where to get a cheese steak in philly because there are some many places around with great cheese steaks.

I went to both and yes you are right, there is a lot of argue if Geno´s or Pat´s, been honest I cannot perceived the difference but the must famous is Geno´s by far, the one that is in Rocky´s film is Geno´s that one crowded by artists pictures is Geno´s and if you ask someone locally they would Geno´s as well, but taste difference not much...!

Aldo's pizza (on Bustleton av and Verree rd rd) has best Philly cheese steak , try mushrooms with fried onions one . Also Dmitrii's Italiano (Bustleton av and Tomplinson rd ) has very large assortiments - like Russian Philly Cheese steak (ask for Alla when You need real good one,she is real master ) .

I don't seem to like either one. I usually go to my local Hispanic corner store and get them to fix me up a cheese steak platter. It comes with french fries and a can of soda. It usually cost $3.50 it taste way better than the usual pizza restaurant's. I hope that helps.

Pats/Geno's Ok.. purely because they are open late night when other joints are closed.

Jims is good, but waaaaaaay too small for your $.

Not sure... I heard Daleassandro's is good.

Jim's Steaks - 4th and South Streets - best one of them all, IMO!
