Why do you feel the need to test people? What is that saying about you? You don't know who you friends are? If you have real friends you don't always have to say anything, my friends and I just start walking and talking together. Come on now grow up and stop worrying about things that will not make any difference in the long run.

The people who do not say hi to you probably are shy or don't feel like talking when you want people to respond to you. It isn't your fault. It isn't theirs either.
When someone doesn't say hi first, it doesn't necessarily mean that they don't like you. It only means that they are not sure if you won't say hi either. It happens both ways. It's a two way street when there is conversation involved.
Don't take it personally. Your not a bad person. Your just complex. Complex people think more about people and life then most. It isn't a bad thing at all!

LOL. Be you. Do not worry about them. If they are your friend, it does not matter who said hi first. How do you know they are not testing you? If they are a true friend then this should not be an issue. Remember to polite, smile, and always say hi. It does not matter if they hate you or like you. In the end, you are being civilized. And if they do hate you...you will only kill them with kindness by waving hi and smiling all along.

Had this problem with a b..... of a co-worker and I came in every morning and said hello, good morning, etc. She wouldn't look up but she's like say "hi" -- she's in her 30s and she was evidently feeling threatened by me working there and taking her job (that's what I was told anyway). So I came in a few days after realizing what was going on and I said "yep, my test worked -- you DON'T say hello to me or acknowledge me at all. I get it." She ran down to the boss she was sleeping with too - ha ha-- did I mention I don't work there anymore? LOL Anyway it should go both ways.

The proper term that can be used to describe such an individual would be "immature." Who cares who says hello first? Acknowledge one another and move on!

well if you want to be popular and well liked stop playing games and be friendly to everyone and say hi to those people that you want to be friends with. If you are not friends with someone or don't have any interest in them then just leave them alone.

Sometimes you just have to grin & bare it. I frankly think its kinda rude to catch someone's eye & not say anything especially if they nod, smile, wave, etc. Dont take offense, some people are just rude.
