If you are truly looking for a serious photographer then you are going to want one who is part of a national organization such as
Professional Photographers of America (www.ppa.com)
Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (www.wppionline.com)
Both sites have a search option on them that allows you to search for photographer by zip code, city, etc.
Otherwise, check sites like
