The litter box needs to be located in a private location. We have several cats indoors, and they al have their own cat box.
Most prefer the laundry room, which is convenient for non-flushable litter, and I have 2 that have their letterboxes in the bathroom...hence scoopable and flushable cat litter.
You need to completely eliminate any odor from the corner locations that your cat has chosen.
Pick one corner, and place the cat box there. Get rid of the remaining corners. Put something in the corners until the cat is comfortable with the litter box. You can fill up plastic trash bags with newspaper and block the corners.
Once the cat is using the box, toss the trash bags.

Have you neutered him? If not, he is marking his territory and will continue to do so. If he is neutered, there are some sprays on the market that you can buy and put in areas you do not want your cat using the bathroom. They smell bad (to the cat) and should help to correct the behavior. Other than that, I would try to catch him right before he goes in the corner and then pick him up and put him in the litter box. Maybe he was never litter box trained and doesn't know he is doing wrong.

Well it is a bad situation and I have dealt with this before. It is either one of two things, since you keep the litter box clean
1) the previous odor is still in the carpet and you need to really clean this area well. you can buy pet smell removal products from Wal-Mart in the pet section and cleaning section or from a vet even. Or you need to have your carpets shampooed and aired out.
2) Your cat may have a physical health problem and can not make it to the litter box in time and when they are sick, they go to the closest place possible.
So you need to call a vet and ask them the possibilities of what could be wrong. One of my cats was very ill and and had terminal illness and this was one of the symptoms. So please at least take him to the vet to make sure he is OK. They will have to run tests and that will cost some money, but you could set up a payment plan with a vet. Some clinics will do this.
Also, he may need to be fixed, as this is a common trait among male animals. So that may solve your problem.

Well it is my unprofessional opinion that your cat is both in poor health with a urinary tract illness- or very irritated. I had a cat for 17 yrs earlier than she handed on and the only time in all the ones years she peed at any place except her clutter field was once when you consider that she was once in poor health. They are not able to let us know what is incorrect vocally but they're going to act exceptional while anything is incorrect. When you're taking her in to be spayed be certain they investigate her for that. I do not know why anyone could desire to hear a feminine cat pass into warmness each and every month with all their howling and calling out for a mate. It turns out merciless for her to need to pass via this while there is not any intent, it isn't cozy at excited about a feminine cat at those occasions. are you able to think no Midol...LOL I uncover it unhappy that a few one has worry approximately a proceedure that's demonstrated to saves cats lives and demonstrated to advertise a more healthy longer existence. He's no longer the only stepping into, she is. It's unhappy to understand his kitty is not invaluable of most important wellbeing disorders when you consider that he is a chook little... I could suppose two times earlier than having youngsters ....... What if they want support and HE"S SCARED, once more it isn't even his wellbeing. Take care

your cat probably doesnt like that type of litter, sounds crazy but they are very picky and very clean so try a diffrent brand and maybe kitty doesnt like your location of the box it needs to be in a quiet spot where kitty has privacy, our box is in the laundry room, good luck

cats are extremely picky about litterbox locations...either your cat doesnt like where the litter box is, or he has a unirnary tract infection...with males this especially serious as they wont tell you and it gets very bad before you usually find out...move the litter box and if that doesnt work get him to vet....
