Your hair should be your choice, not your mums. Tell her very calmly how you want to hair to look. You don't always listen to your mother.

What I would do is ask her why she won't let you use the straighteners. Perhaps she has a good reason. Whatever the reason, you can use it to do some research and show her that it is wrong.

You can also assert that you are willing to pay for all products/procedures required as well as accepting all consequences.

Ask her if she ever ironed her hair (popular in the 50-60-70s) and why that was ok if you can't use a product to straighten.

She might have a good reason. If not, use logic and evidence to prove otherwise and change her mind. Whining and saying "your friends do it" is NOT a good way to go about it.

I had the same problem! I suggest use a good conditioner, like John Frieda Beach Blonde (even if you're not). Towel dry.

Then, rub some KMS smoothing serum through the ends

Then blow dry it in small sections with a round boar hair brush keeping the air blowing down, never up (that's what makes it frizzy).

And, if it's still a little dry, add a little more smoothing serum.

If your hair's naturally curly, it can be hard without a straightener. If you're allowed to use a blowdryer use a hollow, ceramic barrel brush while you're drying your hair. It works great for me. Also, use products meant to smooth and straighten hair. Frizz-Ease isn't too expensive and it has an entire system- shampoo, conditioner, and stylers specifically made to straighten and smooth hair. Frizz-Ease hair serum also helps. And if you can't use a blowdryer, just brush/comb through your hair as often as possible while it air dries. Frizz-Ease has this great finishing creme called Secret Weapon. It works great on dry hair to smooth it and keep frizz down, and temporarily mend split ends.

I have naturally curly hair to straighten mine I use CitriShine Hair serum, & spray gel.. I put both of those on when it is wet then I blow dry with a round brush til it is completely dry then I take the flat iron to it.. The ceramic plated flat irons are the best. I just hope & pray it won't be a humid day or else about 2 hours later my hair is back to curly again.. Good luck.. & listen to your mom they know best..

It depends on your hair type, so I would need more information.

You could always round up some pictures of people with this voluptuous, smooth, silky hair and show those to your mom and ask her what she thinks about that hair style. Then ask her to take you to the salon and let a stylist show you both what you will need to achieve that look, without hurting your hair.

i dont think that 15 is too young to have a straightener...i mean by that age youre going to be in high school and she's going to need to let you grow up sooner or later. try and talk to her calmly about it, let her know that if you get a ceramic straighter (which you can find at walmart) it wont do damage to your hair so she wont have to worry about that. tell her youll pay for it with your own money. also let her know that youre going to high school and you want to fit in. not saying you want to be superficial and looks are everything, but everyone wants to fit in, thats human nature. but, in the end if she doesnt let you get one use a large round brush and a blow dryer when you get out of the shower to straighten your hair and get some hair serum (like biosilk or frizzease) to smooth it out. good luck to you!

Good for you because you still listen to your mother. Not sure if you've asked your mother why she won't allow you to straighten it. What if she just thinks you have beautiful hair already. Talk to her and let her know that there is no permanent damage to your hair if anything else use a paddle brush and hairdryer.

That's what happened to me. My mom wouldn't let me because she envies my curly full hair (she has super straight hair) and she says that I shouldn't ruin it. But I wanted to straighten it soo badly. So I kept bothering her. I help always pulling my hair straight with my hand in front of her, and saying things about her "beautiful straight hair" untill finally one day she came into my room and threw a new straightener on my bed. I was so happy!

Bothering will get to her, trust me.
Oh, and say that you're old enough to make your own decisions, and that you're straightening your hair, not hers, so it shouldn't matter.

I am a mixed girl of BLK/WHT my hair was the same thing...and yes at 15 she let me relax my hair....big mistake. i had to keep doing roots and she had enough of that after awhile. besides by the time i was 17 it was almost unmanageble. Now I am all grown up and have never used it again. I have invested in a ceramic hot iron and believe me not a hair out of place. don't know what i would do if i had lost it. your mom just don't want you to do anything drastic to your hair. if it messes up you'll be in big trouble. just let her know you'll do what ever to get the ceramic flat hot iron. get one that reaches a high temp...i have one that can be used on wet or dry. good luck kid.

well . basically that sucks . but one way you could try without letting your mom know is use a heating iron that you use on clothes. i use to but its not very very good on hair so i wouldn't do it all the time . all you do is put a towel over your hair and lye down on the or something and straighten it. easier when someone is doing it for you . and makes it look awsome but its up too you ? lol
