If someone is willing to leave (and cheat on) their current significant other without first breaking up with them, then what's to stop them from eventually doing the same to you someday? This kind of sets a bad precident for a relationship...
Also consider...if you were dating somebody, even if it was going poorly, do you think it's OK for someone to come along and steal your significant other? I'll bet you wouldn't want this done to you...

You can't "take" anyone literally unless you kidnap them or something. That person obviously wasn't happy in their current relationship. However, it is wrong to flirt, or make suggestions to someone who is in a relationship.
