My favorite breed is the American Pit Bull Terrier. And that basically includes the American Staffordshire Terrier as well since it is just the AKC version of the APBT. I also love any unregistered ones and mixes of them, called just "pit bulls".
They are my favorite because they are one of the most loving, loyal, happy, athletic, intelligent, and goofy breeds out there. They are an extremely flexible breed, excelling in weightpulling, search and rescue, agility, flyball, obedience, therapy dogs, and just about any other activity you can name. They live to please their owners and love everyone. Plus they often look intimidating so just their presence can deter a possible criminal even though they are big babies. Also, they are fairly low maintenance since they have such short hair. I love their big bully smiles, nothing cuter. And they can go from a couch potato to running zoomies around the yard in a second. Pit bulls: hard bodies, soft hearts.
Don't have one yet but can't wait to.

Shih Tzu!
Ours is named Eli, and he is the most fantastic dog... and I'll tell you why.
1. He doesn't shed. Shih Tzus are "hypoallergenic" dogs with no shedding fur and no dander. This is a definite plus if you have any folks allergic to dogs in your family or friends.
2. He's got the size of a small dog, but the attitude of a big dog.
3. He is fantastic with kids.
4. They are loving and adorable.
The only downside is the necessary grooming. We keep Eli's hair short because it's easier to maintain, but the grooming can be costly.

My favorite dog breed is a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. I have one. She's 6. Her birthday is April 20. She was born in 2000. Her name is Ruffian, but she doesn't live up to her name. Ruffian means loud, and rambunctious. I love her and lots of people in my town have one or two. They are greta and have hair not fur. They are hypoallergenic. They are great.
