This is just further proof that not only is the war not about oil, but that there are still far too many liberals ruining this country. We have to do something about them before it is too late.

I thought about this for awhile too. But than I thought, maybe its not the price that is the issue. Heck, why should American companies charge $1/gal. if they can get $3.19? Maximize shareholders value right? This can be done because there is no competition. They could charge $6.00/gal. and you would most likely consume the same amount of gas.
I think the war on oil isn't for the price, but for the supply and the "say" about who owns the oil, who supplies it and who gets the proper amount.
There is also theories about Oil currency and if the U.S lost control of the oil currency (going to Euros for example) it would be like a nuclear bomb going off. I read that somewhere.

It is a war for profit, not just for the oil companies but for defense contractors as well. The current administration and many leaders of both parties are heavily influenced by these industries. As for the gas prices, have you ever heard of the words Monopoly or Collusion? Big oil conspires to squash any competetion, that is collusion. It helps to maintain their monopoly on the world's supply of this critical resource. Just look at all the negative propaganda concerning Venezuela and their nationalized oil industry. The big oil companies can charge whatever they want because we need their product and we don't have any options for obtaining it other than the big oil companies. I'd say that gives them a monopoly.

Its probably not about oil, despite the pervasiveness of that opinion. Oil is a financial consideration and nobody, even the president and his lackeys, argued for the financial benefits of Iraq. Stability of oil export is a possibility, but not the best one.
Its more about control. Maintaining a military presence in Iraq gives us a stronghold in a very hostile area, something that is considerably more valuable to our honcho's than Oil. Why liberals keep trying to make the oil connection when there are so many more accurate and more appaling reasons is unclear ...

It's a popular media excuse to get people to disagree or challenge the war. Like the guy said a little bit above me, there would be no way to have an American oil company in Iraq. We could easily take the oil from there now. Obviously we aren't.

you get gas for 3.19... I pay 3.39 right now and that's down since the last time I got gas... I'm moving to where you live. Oh and I imagine if all of you owned and oil or gas company you wouldn't be complaining.

Quite simply, the answer is this. Poor and middle class citizens will see NO benefits whatsoever from present and future wars. Only the government, big oil executives, and war contractors will see any benefits. The system is set up that way. The poor sacrifice and the rich reap all the benefits. And the poor fall for the scam over and over and over and over and...

The oil company's will use any excuse to feed their greed, there is no leadership in the white house so they can get away with it. Today it is about Iran.
