I like it. Needs to apply to illegal Mexicans too.
It is way cheaper than it is now.

I'm all for enforcing our laws, and from what little you've said, this sounds like an effective program to do that.
What I don't understand - from your question and from most of the responses here - is why you and others are so utterly obsessed over this! Such hatred without basis is unhealthy. I doubt very seriously that you have any knowledge of the history of immigration in this country, either legal or illegal, nor of the demographics of immigration.
I also strongly doubt that your lives have been affected in a net negative way by illegal aliens - and don't do a song-and-dance about taxes for schools and hospitals when you are much more than making up for it with cheap groceries picked by illegals.
[ADDED] DAR (below) - I'll tell you EXACTLY what affects you. You're truly in LALALand if you think the benefit to your food bill is just $10 per month. Wanna know the real number? Take your grocery bill (just the foodstuffs, raw and processed) and multiply by THREE - that's what you would be spending if illegals were legalized and taxed and subject to minimum wage laws. Besides, just haven't said HOW you're affected just because your kids go to school with illegals.
Read up, people, and get your bigoted heads out of the sand. Learn some history, get real on solutions.

It's obvious we need the workers who are already here, legal or not. There's no point in treating them like murderers because they're extremely valuable to the American work force. Everyone is exaggerating the negative impact of immigrants. I live in California, and there's a lot of illegal immigrants here. It's no big deal. These riled up anti immigration people are really exposing themselves as simply being prejudice. I personally find it a bit frightening.
Anyway, here's a better idea. The government should use all that money that would go through the court and prisons and instead build an anti immigration wall along the border, add jobs by hiring security officers to stand guard instead of soldiers, suspend NAFTA, cut ties with Mexico, tear down the Statue of Liberty, and just go back to isolationist policies. Everyone who lives in America wins, the racist and tolerant, and the Mexican government becomes forced to take care of its own people instead of depending on the US.

More data is needed to accurately respond . You cite a comparative cost analysis and fail to identify a source. Credible or otherwise. To separate 'Mexican Nationals' from criminals from Central and South America would create discriminatory conditions. To do this would be to determine that there are no criminals from Mexico.
It would also help to know what this program's needs and goals are. How was this legislation created? Was it even a legislative action? What is the long-term impact, as opposed to the short-term expense? Where does this program stand in terms of National Security? Homeland Security?

i guess its a good idea. it really makes me mad how they come over and get everything americans should be (at least the poor ones). like food stamps and even health care (some of them have medical or whatever it is) but when u.s. born citizens ask for any kind of financial assistance the government launches a big investigation as to WHY you need financial help. but then again we need them here cause i know d*mn well i sure aint gonna go pick grapes for 5 bucks an hour or clean anyones toilet for a livings, so just keep em here but make em pay taxes

It sounds like it works, if they have enough detention to hold them until the plane gets in. The lack of detention is why they went to 'catch and release' to begin with.
Alias Smith, the direct impact on my kids' education in the L.A. school district will impact them for the rest of their lives. The maybe $10 per month max that I save on groceries would not begin to pay for private schools. Don't tell me what affects us.

I truly believe we should ship all illegals out of this country immediately. If your here illegal then your breaking our laws. This country was founded on immigrants entering the country legally. Registering their names and where they may live and what they will contribute to the country. Check out Ellis island for example. I can't wait till they get shipped out. Thank God for Bush!

If only we could find a way to charge them for the cost, then just maybe they would go about getting a legal entry.

The faster the better. What are we waiting for? If you are not here legally and are not trying to remain here legally... then you have no right to be here and use tax payer services and leech off of our economy.

I say we should hire them to build a wall across our borders.. let's just make sure before the last brick is placed...that they are on the south side of the wall...
