They belonged to my mom and she passed away. I've been told that the no-kill shelters are full; the ones that aren't don't want 18 year old cats. My cousin took them for awhile but only until they found a home. No luck yet. I'm going to have to get them this weekend, and I have a dog that I fear will eat them for a snack.

My mom loved them so much, and so do I, but I don't know what to do. Having them put to sleep is simply not an option.

Please help me!!!!!!!!!

I work at a cat shelter and let me tell you it is better for them to have you euthanize them then to go to a shelter. Old cats DO NOT do well at a shelter. They stop eating, get fatty liver disease, and need to be put to sleep anyway.
If you or a family member cannot take them, have them put to sleep before they suffer. Do you really want their last days to be spent at a shelter??? Even a nice one cannot provide what they need.
Many people dump old cats at shelters because they can't stand to do the dirty work themselves. Don't be like that. If you are unable to take them, put them to sleep so you know they are not suffering. They don't have a long time left, they shouldn't spend it at a shelter.
