No soy but try this:
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoon worsestire sauce (spelling)
5 cloves of garlic
3 dashes liquid smoke (carefull its potent)
Marinate 12-24 hours
PS: You can add 1 can of beer to this also...cheap beer like budweiser not heavy flavored stout...
Bon Appetito!!

I use Jack Daniels Whiskey and Brown sugar. Marinade it a couple of hours before so it absorbs. it gives the steak a great flavor and the brown sugar crystallized on the top :)

No soy sauce in this one, but check it out anyway.

That one with Jack Daniels is really good. One of the best grilled steaks I ever had was soaked overnight in Jack Daniels and Brown Sugar.

Add some sesame seeds and some ginger and just a little orange or lemon juice. Overnight is best, but at least an hour before you cook.
