It would be hard not to eat anything that was living since plants are also alive. I know that you meant of flesh and blood. I don't think the fish means lets go eat seafood. I think it is a symbol for the fisher of men. I don't eat any animal because I feel life is precious and should be respected. I don't tell other people what to eat because I feel people should be allowed to believe and live as they want.

why would the sign of the fish mean all christians eat fish? So they eat crosses too? I am not sure you understand the meaning behind the fish...
People were not always allowed to show their faith, so upon meeting someone new they would nonchalantly draw one have of the fish in the sand, if the other person was open to it and knew and was a believer they would draw the other half and they would know that they could talk about religion without being prosecuted by each other.
Also, remember when the bible was written, a lot of times when a letter to the church said not to eat a meet of some sort (like pork) it was to that specific church in that specific time, because of disease that was in that area. It is all contextual. Just like everything else, you need to know the story leading up to and why each person wrote things down and who they were written to in order to catch all the meanings behind each chapter. Way to keep looking for the truth!

First of all, the Old Covenant (Old testament) was made with the Jewish people only, not with anyone else. That being said, " the not eating certain meats thing" did not pertain to anyone else either. And incidentally, under the New Covenant, which all are invited to take part in, all manner of animals are good for food. (Acts 10:9-15) You should do a little more research before you start making unwarranted accusations... ~GOD BLESS YOU~

The part about mankind being vegetarians was only until Noah got off the ark, and then Jehovah gave to Noah the right to eat meat, and told him how to bleed it and use it and such. I love animals, and am a staunch believer in humane treatment and breeders and growers...but I AM a meat eater, at least until a New World Order, then who knows? The Bible says that a child will sit with a maned lion, and will touch an adder, so obviously animals will not be afraid of us..does that possibly mean that we won't be meat eaters then? Perhaps!

It was an editor's choice. If everything is created by creator, man has to to eat something created by creator. In the pre edited Old Testament flesh might have been meant"human flesh" not fish or other animals/plants.It does not make Bible wrong, because the entire world along with animals/fish/plants was created for Adam andEve.Church cannot do any thing.Believe or leave.

Don't blame Ezra, he personally took a vow to become a strict vegetarian!

The Church using a fish I believe is a reference to Jesus' phrase "fishers of men," and many of Jesus' disciples were fishermen. Biblical stories were also told of miracles involving fish.

We must eat something that the creator has made or else we will starve! The key is to eat in moderation in a way that does not harm.

Better read some more! WE CAN EAT ANYTHING! No restrictions! Hinduu , Budhists, etc. avoid meat thinking it lowers their macasa and makes them less spiritual... TRUE CHRISTIANS are filled with the Holy Spirit automatically and dont need to worry about such things. How come Vegitarians allow vaccinations and brush their teeth?? THAT KILLS microscopic animals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THe sign of th fish was a 'secret' way of identifying Christians in Roman times - I think FISH spelt out in Greek forms an acronym that spells JESUS - or something like that.

The bible does not tell us not to eat meat, there are certain kinds that are forbidden such as pork, water creatures without scales, and animals without hooves. Jesus ate fish. Some people think this only applied to people in the Old Testament.

It's obvious that eating meat has no good value whatsoever, especially of the spiritual kind.

But most people will discard a religion that mandates vegetarianism, so few churches impose it, or even reccomend it.

Even Muslim clerics have to undergo a period of vegetarianism in their training, and this culture is well-knows for meat dishes.

so you tell me.
