I just talked to a guy at a Batteries Plus store and they charge $45 to "refurbish" a battery. What are they doing to it?

Throw it in the garbage.

Buy a brand new one.

Sounds like a bad battery. Rechargeable batteries don't last forever, and are fairly expensive, so beware.

Batteries that won't recharge are dead and should be recycled. There is noway to repair them, and freezing them won't work either.

You don't. Ni-cad batteries are not "repairable." You chuck it and go buy another.

before you toss it try this--freeze it! yes that's right! thaw it out then try to recharge it. some times it works folks
