they're completely different. whey is a protein, you need protien to build muscle.
creatine is slightly more complicated. when you exercise your body breaths aerobically and anaerobically to produce ATP, or energy, it also produces waste products, creatine very simply reuses the waste products to form more ATP, hence gives you more energy. if you lift weights creatine will give you more strength, but is far better suited to expolsive power eg 100m sprints. if you do decide to take it, then load it for the first week (take it about 4 times a day) and then take a maintence dose (2 times a day) for about 5 weeks, stop for about 3 weeks and the repeat

You need whey to build muscles (not essential but it helps), creatine will make you lift more therefore grow bigger muscles. it has absolutely NOTHING to do with testostorone production and is nothing like a steriod. The safety issue is unrealated to that, but if it helps creatine is a naturally occuring substance in the body.

Any athlete needs a good source of protein on a daily basis - this is non-negotiable. Any other supplements are in addition to, not instead of protein.

Different dosages of creatine can be used by both power and endurance athletes. Power users will experience an increase in weight and power within a month as the muscles take in more water. Creatine should not be used continuously but cycled quarterly with two months on and one month off. Be aware that you cannot use caffeine if you want this to be effective - not all suppliers point this out as I found to my cost - it was literally money p!ssed away!

Creatine acts more like a steroid in the body, helping to create testosterone, which aids in muscle development. The jury is still out on whether creatine is safe long-term.
