I know I almost died just wearing my DCU's while suffering under the brutal Iraq sun doing light labor. Then, you have these chicks walking around in drapes. Don't you ever get hot? I'm not even questioning the religious aspect of your hijaab, I don't even want to go there... just honestly, aren't you guys HOT? Good God, I guess it's good to be a "heathen" at least in the summertime. Wow. I just couldn't be muslim on oh, so many levels.

Mesha> Your defensiveness shows you stand on shaky ground in your beleifs. I am educated enough to know that. You make a good show on behalf of your cause. Kudos to you. By the way, I went to college and got a degree, what do you have??

Let's start with facts...there are more skin diseases attributed to exposing your skin to the sun than covering your skin. Even before Islam, people always covered in Arabia. Wearing suitable fabrics cools you down, you don't necessarily need to expose your skin to the sun to cool down, and like I said it's more harmful.

Regardless of what your wearing or not some people will remain hot, for example, the poverty level in my country is on the rise. Some people can't even afford a fan let alone air-conditioning. The electricity shuts off almost every day for hours!

You are free not to be Muslim, but respect those who do want to be. Muslimas aren't the only people who cover either! ever heard of Nuns? and do you know that the Arab Jewish women in my country cover too!

Remember also some Arabs such as Iraqi's go through so much that the weather is the least of their worries. Especially at times where American soldiers raid homes and unjustly kill innocent women and children! where there are terrorist attacks everywhere and nobody is safe anymore.

Just pray for the safety of these women, and pray they return home and none of their loved ones are missing.

I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone else who asks me that: I'm no more hotter than you are.
See, wearing all these fabrics might seem hot to someone who thinks that shorts and tanks are the best way to go (the way I thought before I became Muslim), but honestly it's like taking shade with you everywhere you go. Wear the right colors and fabrics and you'll be even cooler than those who ARE wearing the tanks and shorts, all the while still keeping your complete modesty. Try it sometime, you just might be convinced!

What they wear has Nothing to do with Islam.

By the way, the hijab that some Muslim women wear is that scarf that only covers the head.

The Burqa is Not in Islam at all. The women in Saudi or Iraq that dress in all black are Not dressing according to Islam.

It is something you get used to and many times it actualy keeps you cooler if you dress correctly. Just because one is Muslim does not mean they are forced to cover up. It is an obligation in the religion however the woman makes the decision for herself. I know many Muslim women that do not cover up, this is their choice. Dont judge a religion by a few people......

Dressing as they do in those areas of the world actually protect them from the heat.If you dress like a harlot over there, under the sun, your skin would be a bright red and peeling in no time. Also ,it is what you are used to.I live in a VERY humid part of the U.S.and people say"how can you stand it here?It is SO hot",but I was raised here and it doesn`t bother me at all.

Covering your head and wearing loose garments actually protects you from the heat. Skirts are much cooler and more comfortable in heat than pants, even shorts. Long lightweight garments are much more desireable under the hot sun than skimpy gear which allows the sun and dry air to quickly strip your body of moisture.

Dam dont you get tired of putting your foot in your mouth. Go get some education and come back later. As a muslim woman I laugh at people like you. You think its ok to walk around half naked but when a woman covers BY CHOICE you in your small mind cant understand. And if we are hot what buisness is it of yours ? we dont tell you what to wear so back off and handle your own buisness!

Most of them live in the desert area and it makes you wonder how do they clean themselves after taking a big dump. Perhaps those clothes were designed to contain unwanted smell.
