I would say to you just wait. Dont be in a rush to have a boyfriend. I know how it is. To have a boyfriend at a young age would be hard especially if you are trying to be serious so I would say about 17, but if you just want someone to talk to and chill with I would say about 14.

I don't think being old enough to date is based solely upon your age, I think maturity should be factored in as well. Everyone reaches maturity levels at different stages in their lives. You should sit down with your mom and have an open honest talk with her and explain to her why you think youre ready. Show her your maturity level. Maybe after she sees your mature enough and what it means to you, She may lighten up a bit and allow you to "date", but you have to understand she's only trying to protect you because she loves you(one day youll be a mom and youll get it). She may have rules and regulations for you to go by when you start dating, but they are for your own safety and well being. I know this isnt what you wanted to hear, it's just my opinion. I wish you the best of luck and many many cute boyfriends in the years to come!
