Being a pedophile is not the same as being a Christian. There have got to be a million Christians who wouldn't do this as opposed to one that would. Just because you are a Christian doesn't mean you are a priest. Just because you are a priest doesn't mean you are a pedophile. Your question doesn't make any sense. Christians are disgusted with this problem also. A pedophile is a pedophile. It doesn't matter if you have religious beliefs or not. It seems to me that you are implying that Christians are pedophiles or that we support this practise. There are way more pedophiles that are not Christian than pedophiles who claim to be Christian. Everybody just got excited because it was such a shock to see something bad come from the Catholic Church. Get over it. People are not perfect. Duh!
I would like to add that Love 2B Curious is correct. The Catholic Church has invented a lot of its teachings. The Bible doesn't teach that we are to confess our sins to another man (Priest). They also decided that they would observe the Sabbath Day on Sunday when it is actually on Saturday. The Seventh Day Adventists are the only ones that I know of that keep the Sabbath Day Holy. Other Christian Churches need to do the same. There are a lot of things that are inconsistent between Catholicism and Christianity. Christians decided to separate themselves from the Catholic Church which is why some people like myself refer to themselves as Prodestants.

Do you ever listen to yourself or do you just like to scream at us? It is ignorance to paint an entire group with the same brush. The number of pedophiles in Christianity is no more or less than in society as a whole. They have certainly committed an egregious sin, but they are not the majority of Christians. I think you'll find that most Christians condemn pedophiles.

Let's understand something here... Catholicism is "NOT" Christianity! It is a man-made "religion", and one of the most unscriptural ones around! Their doctrines and ceremonies are "NOT" scriptural, and are an abomination to the Lord! Unfortunately, few people know that this religion stems from a paganistic religion originating in Rome, (hence, the name, Roman Catholic Church). It's foundation is "not" based on the scripture and has drawn more innocent people away from the Truth than any other single religion... and as such, will pay a heavy price as we're are just recently beginning to see.
Hold on to your hats ladies and gentlemen, for this is just the beginning!

Cristianity has nothing to do with a man who becomes a priest and then through a sinful perversion preys on young kids. Christianity is about Jesus Christ dying for the sins of the world. Priests who forget about the grace of God and the love of God and exchange it for the perversion of this world are not acting like Christians, they are acting as pagans, acting as worldy people, sinning against God and unfortunatley destroying the office of pastor and minister at the same time.

Good heavens, that's one of the most ignorant things I've ever read. No offense.
Pore through the national sex-offenders' registry, and you'll find very, very few priests -- or clergy of any denomination -- on there.
Get your facts straight, sir or madam, and stop trying to use the tragic issue of child molestation to further some anti-religious agenda. That's unfair, not to mention exploitive.

The actions of a few do not constitute the entirety of the organization. I do not agree with most religious doctrines, but you have to understand that in the end these priests are human. There are a LOT of pedophiles out there. Psychological disorders are very common in our society.

Please don't misunderstand what I am about to say, because as a victim of sexual abuse, I loathe the very idea of it, especially from someone in the position of trust the priests have. But don't you think there are just as many pedophiles that AREN'T posing as Christians? It isn't just to slam into an entire way of being just because of a few embiciles who don't have the emotional maturity to look in their own age group or gender for sex!

I'm ashamed to say, there's been more than one Rabbi that committed this heinous crime.
I'm sure other religions have their share of sickos, too.
