Wow. There's a whole lot of misinformation out there! If you're interested in Witchcraft the best thing you can do is study, study, study. I'd also advise staying away from books by Silver Ravenwolf or anything else published by Llewelyn.
Witchvox.com is a great place to start.
There's nothing evil about Witchcraft. You'll hear about "white" and "black" magic. Ignore it. Everything needs balance...light and shadows, black and white...everything. Also, Wicca is NOT the only form of Witchcraft. In fact, it's one of the newest. There are many, many types and forms of Witchcraft. Witchcraft in and of itself is not a religion, it's a craft. Many Pagans practice the craft without being "Wiccan". Additionally, there are also Christians who practice it, although that is a hot topic of debate among both Christians AND Witches.
Lastly, many rituals that people perform are rooted in Witchcraft (birthday candles, lighting candles in church, etc.). However, their current religion may call Witchcraft "evil"...it all depends on how open your mind is, what you've already been taught and your willingness to explore and learn and make your own decisions.

Even though this is a genuine question (I hope), it just sounds silly. You formed it in such a way that it looks like you've taken in every misconception about being a witch, which I hope isn't the case.
1.) A Witch, simply, is a practitioner of Witchcraft. Thus, you practice Witchcraft, you are a Witch. That's it. You're not required to join a religion if you don't want. But before you dive into casting spells, I strongly suggest you pick up a copy of Scott Cunningham's "The Truth About Witchcraft Today". There are a lot of minute details you need to know about, like the "three-fold rule" before you start practicing.
2.) What do you mean where do they go? They go where most people go. They shop, work, and eat just like everyone else. If you mean spiritually, after they've past-on, it depends on what religion you ask. If you want to know where to meet other Wiccans, Witches and Pagans, I'll list some links where you could possibly get in touch with some.
3.) Witchcraft is not evil, but it's the heart of the Witch who makes it positive or negative. I once had Witchcraft describe to me as this: Witchcraft is a tool, like a knife. You can use that knife to cut vegetables for a salad, or you can use it to kill somebody. The tool itself isn't evil, it's the heart of the person wielding that tool who is evil.
I hope I've been a help to you. Good luck.

Some of you people are in desperate need of some education. First of all, witches do exist. I am one, I should know. Second, Wiccans don't all worship the Goddess Diana. Third, we don't worship Satan, we don't believe in him. Not that any of you will bother to do actual research, I just thought I'd point out your ignorance so other people can learn.
Becoming a witch is the same as becoming a Christian, Buddhist, Jew or whatever. You study the faith and you practice it. We go anywhere we want to go. You'd be surprised to find out that the person standing in line next to you at the grocery store or the bank could very well be a witch. We come from all walks of life. Some covens or groups may have special meeting places, but we don't have any brick and mortar church type places for the most part.
The only things I find evil in this world are ignorance and hatred. So no, I don't think witches on the whole are evil people.

Becoming a witch is the same as joining a religion. Its the same as becoming a Christian. They live life pretty much the same way everyone else does. And the power they contain is real. Unfortunatley the power they have comes from Satan. The power is demonic in nature and is a copycat imitation of the power of God. Witches are people and people are created by God. They are not evil, but what they do and the power they have is evil.

1. Call yourself a witch. It helps to do some spells to lend to your credibility. My book will be available by the end of the month to tell you all about how to do that. It's called Simply Magic: Beginning, by Dawn Black. Look it up. (Cheap plug, I know, but it was hard to resist)
2. Tonight I'll be going to the grocery store. This Friday, I'll be going to meet my other Witch friends at the Coney for dinner. We'll be planning our Midsummer gathering (and my birthday) and afterward some of us will go to the club. Then I imagine we'll go home.
3. Evil is very subjective. I can be very evil if riled, especially if it's a man doing the riling, but mostly I'm harmless.

Get a nose job so you have a big hooked nose. Kinda like a parrots beak. Put a big wart slightly to the left of the tip of you new beak. Make your hair real frizzy. Now get the garb, cone hat and all. Build a GingerBread House. Roast two children in the oven.
NOW YOU ARE A WITCH

It depends on your definition of a 'witch' and reasons for wanting to become one. What most people think of as modern day 'witches' are actually practicing Wicca, an ancient nature-based religion...Google it...
