Bush is trying to play the American people for fools. He is not serious about stopping illegal immigration and never has been. If you have doubts examine his proposal for a guest worker program. This program is a way to ensure a permanent supply of cheap labor for the business elite, whom he represents. Sending troops to the border won't solve the problem, and he knows it. Again, just trying to play Americans for fools. Proposing an ammendment to have English be the official language does NOTHING to solve the problem. It's just Bush telling the American people, "Oh, you're upset because my corporate buddies are taking away your jobs and giving them to foreigners to increase their profits, here I'll throw you this bone, maybe you'll settle down, and we can all go back to screwing you in the butt." And all the while, he has the audacity to propagate lies like " the illegals are doing jobs Americans don't want." I think it's time for all Americans to wake up and see what our government is doing to us and whose interests they are really looking out for.

What Bush is saying about border security is definitely a smoke screen. Throughout his administration there has been much less enforcement, not more, and that kind of policy tends to come from the Boss. Bush wants complete free trade a la EU between Mexico, Canada and the US, from what I hear, so he is at best giving a token on border security to pass the huge increase in immigration he wants.

I hope Sensenbrenner requires concrete border security and employer databases to be up and running before any increase in going forward immigration is implemented. I also want employers of any future guest workers to pay fees to cover local schooling and health care. Our schools in border states are already failing. Where are we supposed to put even more ESL students without driving education down even further?

Yeah, one of the biggest problems I can complain about is that the government has just decided to make a big deal out of illegal immigrants.I think Bush just got alot of heat from everyone when immigrants marched for their rights,so he feels he has to suck face and deal with something thats never seemed to be of major importance before. As for every thing Bush promises...I don't believe a word of it.

There's not much of anything that can be done. Once the dam breaks the water comes pouring in. This problem came to light within the past year because of the increase and presence of illegal immigrants in the Southwest. It's not new, just more of them.

you're basically getting your self right into a pissing contest. Time to enable bypass of the gangster mentality. the two events are working as a team to destroy the rustic. Whom ever comes after BHO, will proceed the ball rolling, basically like Bush persevered Clinton's stride. quit being a lemming, and attempt to have an unique thought. there is the place the priority is, no person thinks for themselves any further.

I would think as little as possible to appease all sides. No one likes to make waves. Our leaders are suppose to make firm decisions-but their true leadership qualities have been lost for some time. Man has become afraid of man and their opinions. True Leaders have become fewer and fewer. And those pick for government follow those already there. Birds of a feather flock together.

This has been an ongoing issue in my state for years. And now they are pouring in in droves thanks to his little announcement. No matter what words he uses, its amnesty. You're right on about him. It's a smoke screen. Quality of life in my city has gone to hell.

My crystal ball is broken, so making any reliable prediction is out of the question. All we have left is hope.
