Many believe that schizotypal personality disorder represents mild schizophrenia. The disorder is characterized by odd forms of thinking and perceiving, and individuals with this disorder often seek isolation from others. They sometimes believe to have extra sensory ability or that unrelated events relate to them in some important way. They generally engage in eccentric behavior and have difficulty concentrating for long periods of time. Their speech is often over elaborate and difficult to follow.

If you dont like how you are feeling, then get some counseling. Preferably, ask your doctor for a referral to a psychologist...not a psychiatrist. The psychologist will assess your personality through exploration of your life history, family history, your behaviour and the most prominent symptoms that disrupt your life through a battery of tests designed to give you the correct diagnosis.... if you have one. He will also rule out physical causes by asking you to undergo a full medical exam....and probably see you over several sessions before making the diagnosis.
Most psychiatrist will simply write you a prescription after fifteen minutes...and might worry about the possibility of a misdiagnosis years after you have suffered from the wrong medication....in the wrong diagnosis.
Don't take my word for it. Ask a psychologist about how many people go through their lives surfing from misdiagnosis to misdiagnosis. Oh yes...ask your psychologist about Dialectic Behavioural Therapy. It is a powerful therapy done in a group setting that seems to be helping people across different types of personality disorders. If he/she does not know of it...ask him to inquire about it. My diagnosis is schizo-affective and it practically saved my life. I worked hard at it...still do...and it pays dividends...

Ask here at yahoo answers how many people have been misdiagnosed and given the wrong meds..... for years. You may want to avoid the places they have been...in the horror stories they will relate to you.
Seek help quickly please. And if you do have a diagnosis....which I hope you do not...start off your recovery on the right foot.
Peace and blessings be unto you.
