Without a doubt, I believe your question has validity. But with that said, it will be necessary to check into my archives of linguist thoughts on this particular subject matter, to ascertain as to the best and most beneficial response scheme possible. Although the question has some important thoughts and validity, I would advise you to seek a professional who can best serve you, since most of the people, who answer questions are good at cutting and pasting, spreading descent, and peddling gloom. Although I will do my best to be forthright in giving you the best answer possible, I am afraid anything that I write would be taken entirely out of context. For this reason, and this reason alone, I will say there are always good answers; but rarely are there perfect answers. So my answer can not and will not serve your needs for anything medical or evangelical. I will only answer by saying this is my best sentiment for which I have actually put my best foot forward to be able to reach a solution to your question that is embedded with perplexing thoughts; it in no way reflects my moral values or any opinion of my business, that will remain incognito.

It is symbolic... One body will only produce enough of a meal for maybe a hundred and even that would be stretching it... a body would not last that long. Surely you are not foolish enough to believe that one dead body could feed that many people forever, right? My religion has communion every Sunday, do you know how long blood or a body would last if eaten even a little each week for over two thousand years? Perhaps if you were not concrete operational in your thinking it would be easier to understand. If you want the reason for the symbolism, email me and I will tell you.

It is symbolism for Jesus' sacrifice for us. Any ceremony, or symbolism can be taken out of context, as you have done here.

The catholic church does believe in the literal transformation, but they do have a lot of dogma that was invented by them hundreds of years ago, and is hard to change.

If you don't believe in the miracle of the wine and bread transforming into blood and muscle, then it is no more cannibalism than eating a gingerbread man.

It's symbolic of the communion we have with Him. Religions that observe the Passover, Communion or both, are doing so because of a part of a Scripture from the Last Supper where Jesus told His disciples, "This do in remembrance of Me." He meant that through Eating His flesh and drinking His blood that we were to become one with Him both spiritually and bodily as would be witness by our faith and the way we conduct ourselves in our everyday lives!

Its not cannabalism.

First off, it is not really Jesus' blood or body. People have been doing this for a coupke thousand years now. His body would have long since been consumed.

Secondly, it is a symbolic gesture. Christians take communion (or the last supper) to remember the sacrifice that Jesus made when He died for our sins. It is this act that causes Christians to remember and live according to His word.

No, not cannibalism!!

I guess you never went to church. Anyway, at the last supper Jesus broke bread and said this is my body take and eat every time to do think of me, and the same way with the wine after that, but he said this is my blood shead for you...take and drink every time you do think of me.

I don't know if you understand now or not...but at least...that's why we do it at my church!!

Okay

We don't EAT Jesus, we eat the things they ate at the last supper, as a sign of love and respect. We eat the bread and drink the wine. It's not really Jesus's blood. It just symbolizes it. It's holy blood!

to boot to the different posters: The previous testomony, The Septuagint [translated from Hebrew to Greek someplace 250 BC] became in placed on the prompt, used even earlier Jesus' time. the recent testomony became written 35-one hundred ad and translated to latin by ability of St Jerome, now and again four hundred ad. it continues to be on parchments and skim interior the church, or preached orally. So, there is not any NEW TESTAMENTS IN A e book/BIBLE type on the prompt compiled with Septuagint.' Bible on my own' concept isn't in existence on the prompt as there is not any e book to call bible. It became using Oral custom up until eventually 1400 at the same time as the 'compiled e book type bible' finally hit the printing press. In different words, it took the Catholic Church about four hundred years of gathering, enhancing, and sorting the historic manuscripts and were given revealed in 1400. there have been also fairly some uninspired writings [apocryphal books] that were floating round that were no longer cannonized.

Relax...As I'm sure many have told you already(and probably by quoting lengthy biblical scriptures as well as their own opinion)it's all symbolism. And I think you know that---unless you're stupid. Now, I can see the validity in your argument if Catholics literally ate human body parts and drank human blood. But really, your argument is nonsensical. Read a book.

PS.

Catholics are the only ones who "eat" and "drink" Jesus' blood by the way.

Catholics are the only ones that believe the host and wine are truly transformed into Jesus Christ. To other Christians it is symbolic but has the same meaning.
It would only be cannibalism if Christ were human, but since he is a divine being, it is not cannibalism. Christ's divinity allows us to take in his spiritual flesh and blood to be in communion with him; oneness; a deeper spiritual connection to remind us of why he sacrificed himself for us.
The last supper is to serve as a reminder of all that Christ did unselfishly to give us salvation.
