Cocktail sauce is just a combo of horseradish and ketchup. I say less ketchup, more horseradish makes a good dip!
Be sure the shrimp are well-chilled when serving.
If you want a fun serving method, put the cocktail sauce in a margarita or martini glass with the shrimp hanging over the edge. Add a sprig of parsley or a lemon wedge for some additional flair.

I buy the jumbo shrimp and quick-boil them in some Old Bay seasoning. I buy a bottle of cocktail sauce and a bottle of spicy bloody mary mix. I mix about a 1/2 cup of the sauce and 1 cup of the bloody mary mix and use that for dipping. YUM!

Steam the shrimp, chill them, and cocktail sauce is simply ketchup mixed with horseraddish. You really can't mess it up.

Hey, I just answered a Q -- saying that's what I'm having for dinner.........I'm just gonna use the frozen (cooked/veined) shrimp........and add the cocktail sauce from a jar.. (store bought)
....however, it's just ketchup and horseradish...and "Tabasco" for me.... (that makes it just right).!!!!
I eat a couple of crackers with mine --- YUM YUM !!!
(great minds think alike!!!)
