What time of the year is best when traveling to Italy?

I would try to avoid July and August. That's when it's school break in most countries in Europe and Italy is pretty crowded. June or September is a great time to be in Italy. Have fun - been there a few times. Just got back from the Dolomites (Italian Alps).

the weather is good from mai to september but italy can b enjoyed anytime so i suggest u to go summer but there is a real jam so if thta dont bother u its ok else find some quiet place in a mountain directly on beach

i dont know when is the best, but we went in the beginning of march and it was great. a few days it was quite chilly, but we came prepared. overall, the weather was great since it was mild and made being outside all day in the cities perfect. plus, it wasnt that crowded since summer season hadnt started. the attractions were less crowded and we went everywhere with ease.

They are very different as it is not in the tropical or artic zone.
I prefer spring and early summer before the vast amount of tourists arrive.
