and can we expect all intervention from God to take that long?

The same amount of time people have been praying for the strength to defeat their enemies.

That answers the second part of your question as well.

It always amazes me how we humans are so quick to blame someone, anyone, else for the messes that we create.

Instead of loving each other as ourselves we choose to wage war on each other for our own greedy desires. Then when we don't like the horrible results of our decisions then we say, "Why didn't God do something?"

And if He did do something about it then we'd cry and whine that "God is a tyrant and never lets us make our own decisions." Brilliant.

Case in point. We sin. Death (spiritual separation from God) is the consequence. Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins. All we have to do is accept this payment as a free gift from God. Instead, we say, "Nope. I don't want to do it Your way. I think I'll just do it my way and accept the consequences myself." God says, "OK. Although I love you, you have chosen to spend eternity in hell, apart from me." We say, "Oh, no. That's not fair." hmmm.....

It never stops... until we stand in front of Him and then we will be without excuse.

You'd think they'd have realised the line is down by now, assuming it was ever originally there in the first place and god isn't exactly in a rush to get it repaired.

Looks like praying does not seem to help the peace effort much. LOL!
