What dpi do I use when scanning 35mm slides for a DVD slideshow?

I want to make a wedding slideshow on either adobe premiere or Final Cut. I was wondering what dpi I should scan my 35mm slides with?? I

Its not really about DPI, but rather total Pixels because you're dealing with a set number of pixels. DPI is used for print, where you have a specified size (ex. 8" x 10"). A 13" TV and a 52" TV would have a different pixels per inch, but would share a similar number of pixels. You need to scan your pics in accordance with your project settings, wheter it's standard DV/NTSC (720x480) all the way up to 1080i HD (1920x1080) and what you plan on doing with them. Depending on your purpose, you may want to scan your images in at a larger resolution so you can do motion effects on the image. Make sure you are using a monitoring device to make sure you keep the pixel aspect ratio the same.

As far as color depth, you can use 16 bit, but 8 bit is the best you're going to get anyway, so depending on your situation, you may want to scan at 8 bit.

600 dpi is great but the file size will be huge. Usually, 300 dpi will get the job done. I would not go below 300 thought.

300 - 400 dpi is the best with out geting your files too large
