He wants to be like his friends, and is embarrassed to take off his shirt at the beach and at the pool with his friends. He wants to weigh about 80 pounds at the end of July. Any tips you can give me for him? Thanks =)

Since he's still young and growing, it's not a best idea to be on a strict diet or strain himself by losing weight.

However, the exercise is the key to shedding extra pounds. Instead of sitting around watching TV or playing computer games, get out and do some physical activity. Play outdoor games, ride a bike, go skating, take swimming lessons, climb a mountain, go walking, play sport, time yourself running and try to get faster each day, or do anything active that will burn up that fat. He will feel a lot better as well as look better.

And he needs to elevate his self-image more, not feeling embarrassed because he feels overweight. As he reaches his growing spud, he will need some body weight to reach his potential growth. Weight gain is an important part of healthy growth. As children grow, they gain weight and grow taller. Weight gain is needed to make sure that your child reaches their full height.

I hope this helps.

I think you should take him to the doctor. If the doctor thinks he needs to shed a few pounds than maybe he can suggest something. If he says he is fine the way he is your biggest challenge is going to be to teach your son that he doesn't HAVE to be like everyone else. If he goes through life like that he will never be who he truly is and never be completely happy. A 12 year old shouldn't bow down to Pier pressure. Just think about the possible consequences of that could be in a few years. By than a few pounds will be the least of your worries..

good luck

There are a number of elements used to check if you're the 'instructed' wt. to your ht. Speak for your physician. He/she will probably be in a position to perform a little measurements in order to exhibit the ratio (change) among how so much fats you may have and what sort of muscle. You sound just a little below weight however permit your MD aid you achieve or lose relying on what he unearths Good Luck Turka231

Tell him not to worry. 92lbs. is perfectly good for only being 12 years old. I weigh 102 and am a girl. I just turned 12 last week too.He shouldn't be worrying about weight.Well tell him to start exercising, then it will become muscle. Maybe he weighs 92 because of muscle and not fat. Tell him that muscle ways more than fat and try to make him feel good about being 92 pounds.

he just has baby fat. Go for walks with him it will get that blood pumping and it is a great bonding time as well. What attributes does he have that his friend does not? Help him to focus on the positive. Do more fun physical activities together as a family and a little less junk food. Check to see his weight gain has nothing to do with medical conditions. Less tv and video games and sitting around the house. He has to do his part if his condition is not medical.

the first thing to do is take your son to a nutritionist,he is only like ten pounds from where he wants to be,there is no reason to panic, just follow a sensible diet one the doctor gives him because he is a growing boy a doctor or nutritionist is the best person to give him ideas on how to loose those little extra pounds also i have a son who is always worry about his weight and what i did was, put him in karate classes to tone his body with exercises and they know wht their doing so we dont have to worry,.check on some karate classes it really did help my son even in school work as well as physical.is going to be ok.good luck.and for now until he get in to shape tell him dont be embarrased to take his shirt off because people are shape in different ways tell him your are doing something about that and as long as he knows it,he should not worry.teach him to feel good about his person no matter what others say.tell him when ever he dont feel good about something the best thing is to nail it in the butt do something to fix it.believe me it works for my ten year old and i have a son next year he enters the marines and with boys is easy as long as they have someone to tell them simply to take charge of wht bothers them and change it for the better.good luck he will be fine.

Don't worry. As a 12 year old, he's at perfectly good weight but make sure that he does exercises five times a week.
