I've been visiting Paris on a regular basis for about 35 years.
I've been to dozens of places around the world and I always return to Paris.
It is filled with fascinating history, great architecture, some of the world's most famous art works, fabulous food and a nightlife that goes on all night.

I love Paris. I'm planning my seventh trip to the City of Lights. I highly recommend visiting Paris at least once.
There is so much to see and do: the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Notre Dame Cathedral, Sainte-Chapelle, the Eiffel Tower (naturally!), Sacre Coeur Basilica, Montmartre, Rodin Museum, Napoleon's Tomb at Invalides, the Grand Arche at La Defense, Picasso Museum, Marmottan Museum (Monet), Arc de Triomphe, and the list goes on.
You can stroll along the Seine, walk down the fabled Champs-Elysees, climb to the top of Notre Dame, check out the crazy traffic below from atop the Arc de Triomphe, have a cafe au lait at a charming cafe, relax and people watch in one of the beautiful gardens, pay your respects to Jim Morrison and Chopin at the Pere Lachaise Cemetery, take a nocturnal cruise along the Seine for a different view of Paris.

Paris is one of the quintessential European cities. I've visited four times at different times of the year. I prefer the non-tourist times, but I loved the city each time I went. There is always someting to do, and with its cultural diversity, you can walk from one beautiful experience to a completely different one depending on the arrondisement.
Go with an open mind to the French. The misperception that Parisians are rude comes from tourists with that preconceived notion. Learn some basic phrases and take a good guide book like Rick Steves' Europe through the Back Door. http://www.ricksteves.com
Have a blast!

Yup.....I studied there for 6 months, for a Student Exchange program.
Paris is awesome.....if you're thinking of going, JUST DO IT!!!!
You can sip a cup of coffee in Champs-Elysees. Or picnic in the park at night while watching the Eiffel Tower sparkled with lights. There are other famous monuments you can visit like The Lourve and Notre Dame (... you might like to try following the Da Vinci Code path). You can even go to Sacre-Couer and listen to the choir-singing by the nuns....they're beautiful.
The people there are quite friendly, and most can speak English. But, equip yourself with basic French....just in case.
Being the city of lights and romance.....I say this is totally true. Who knows --- you're Mr. Right can be there waiting for you.

I've been there, and yes, it's beautiful. You really shouldn't miss Paris while in Europe, the City of Light really lives up to its name. It's full of history, art, shopping, great food, and friendly people (assuming you're not a jerk).
