how do you get mucus out of a 8 month olds chest tried steam, humiderfier,decongestants,etc......?

try using warm mist humidifier, hold him over it so he can get some of the steam, but not too close to burn him. ( check it by holding your hand up to it first). after a minute or so when you hear the mucus loosening up, lay him on his stomach,preferably across your lap with his body tilted slightly with his head lower than his chest.Pat his back firmly, as if you were burping him, use a cupped hands, start with the lower 2/3 of his back and work your way up. repeat this several times and he should be able to cough some of the mucus up.

Hi, when my babe was sick my health nurse suggested the humidifier and to prop up the crib a bit at the head. Just slide a binder under the head of the matteress to prop it so it's on an angle. Not alot but just a little. It worked for me.

Until you get him to the doctor you can lay him on his stomach and pat his back. Not on his spine, but other areas of the back. That will help loosen it up so he can cough it up. It's called chest physiotherapy. That's what I do as a respiratory therapist to the kids in the hospital.

you can get vix vapour rub for babies also try cupping you hands and gently hit him in either side of his spine on his upper back to loosen the chest make sure to put a warm towel over his back first and be gentle but firm it should be a cupped hit not a slap.
