I am going to try to get into the Air Force Academy and i can run a mile in 7:30 and do 60 sit ups, but i just cant do pushups. How do i get up there?

Do not go so high in numbers so quickly...Add five pushups each day and you will get there easily

This technique got me through 13 years in the Army and helped maxed my Physical Fitness test:

Do as much push-up you can (with-out stopping), then rest. Wait an hour or two hours, then do it again with-out stopping.

Keep doing these until you are tired or feel that you were not improving at all. Wait until the next day, to start over. Keep track how many you can do each sets.

The first thing you will notice the next day is that you can do at least five more push-ups than the day before. If not, try to do five more than the day before. Then rest. Wait one, to two hours, and do it again, until you are tired and feel you are going down hill.

This is better than the "cumulative" push-ups where you count how many you can do a whole day since the actual Air Force test would be timed. The best part is that you challege your self eachtime you start doing the set.

In no time (like a week or so), you will be knocking out 80 to 90 push-ups.

do 20 pushups 3 times a day until you can do 60 . All it will take is some work on your part.

the pushups based on few thing uhave to get:
triceps, chest, and ur healthy blood and energy
u have few ways i suggest that u read "zatsiorky force developing" its the best one
or simply do this, do reps not more 20 pushups normaly if u cant do the 60 that mean there is not a good relativity betweeb ur chest and ur triceps so u have to train them aparts with light charges for 80 reps and slowly u gona do ur 60 pushups easily if i wasnt clear im me i can explain more "hza_meth"

Alright, pay attention troop!
Get yourself a deck of cards, shuffle them real good, lay the deck on your desk cards down, pick a card off the top, discard it into a discard pile next to the deck.
Big Joker= the highest # of reps you can do (30)
Little Joker= 27
Baby Joker= ( 2 of Spades) 25
Ace of Spades=23
Ace )any other)=21
Face card (King, Queen, & Jack)= 15
# cards (2-9)= The #

Grab a card every time you read a chapter, answer one of these questions, ask a question, every commercial, or a time i.e. every fifteen minutes. You get the idea, works like a charm. There are over five hundred pushups in a single deck of cards, trust me.

add 5 push ups each week and slowly and gradually u will be to reach 50 - 60 pushups daily, don't try to rush on it try doing it slowly and in a month or 2 u will be able to reach ur goal.

Get up much more early. At 4:30 A.M. that will give you super-strength and enough stamina in the cool weather of the morning dew. Increase your push-ups at the rate of 5 at the first day, then 10 at the next day. Go on like this and you will become

Drokp some weight eat fruit and salad and do 3 sets of as many pushups as you can a day.

Work on your overall arm strength. Do tricep and bicep curls with weights. Start out with pushups on your knees. SLOWLY work up to sets of more and more pushups. They'll get easier, trust me! Eventually you'll be able to go up on the toe for them. You can do it, it just takes time. :) Good luck.
