If you look at the times when the bible was written there are a few things that should be noted. 1. The people were largely uneducated. 2. Those in power needed a way to make the people want to be morally responsible. 3. The people in power wanted more money. Religion filled all of those needs. If you walked up to an average person, they would not know that diamonds and soot are made from the same thing, carbon. Nowadays we do have the intelligence to figure out why we would create such stories. We can educate ourselves and our children. We have laws that tell you not to kill or not to schtook your neighbor's wife. Religion is no longer a necessity. Also, look at the stories in the bible. It all points to the fact that if he were real, god would be a maniacal mad-man! He kills on a whim, floods his own creations, kills first born babies. These are not godly acts of one that teaches "turn the other cheek".
Religion also makes the Earth as the center point in the universe. Islamic people pray to the Mecca. Christians and Jews revere Bethlehem and Jerusalem. If god were real, wouldn't the bible talk about fantastic and beautiful places outside of our own little conceited planet? I think it is a little pompous to believe we are so great in the mind of someone that can supposedly create something as vast as a galaxy.

I use to have faith and was a believer, however I no longer believe. What proof is there for me to believe, one book that is intupreted by millions of people, taken in a context to fit their beliefs. One religion takes the bible saying one thing, then another says it means something totally different. How can you say that it means one, two, or three different meaning. I take things in black and white. Its either this or that, not whatever we want it to be to make it fit out needs or beliefs. Another test of my faith was my wife becoming disabled. What God would sit by and let this happen. She has done nothing but serve others, as an EMT, police officer, and her work in a doctors office. Yet she goes on believing. My profession was my biggest test of my faith. I work on an ambulance and see the many faces of life and death. I can not justify in my mind that a God that is kind just and loving would just let a small child die and let a two time loser live. Some would say that God has a plan, but can you really say God's plan was to take a small childs life. I don't see it or believe it. Then there is the issue of religions in general. How many religions are there? I dont know the exact number, but I no that theres alot, and if they are all intupreting the bible as they see fit, which one is right. Taking all these factors I've stated I've come to the realization that I do not believe in God. Am I right or am I wrong, really I don't care, I live my life the way I see fit not the way a group of people or ideals say I should live. Am I going to hell, again I don't care, nothing can be worse than the things I've seen. I neither claim to be right or wrong, and hope my thought do not offend anyone. But these are me reasons I don't believe.

Well first let me start out by saying I am a witch and I do believe in god. There is a massive misconception that we don't. It's just that we believe that there is also a Goddess and in the olden days when the bible was written by men who believed women where less important than there horse they left the goddess out. She has been neglected for years. I don't think that women where put on this earth to obey their husbands. All things in life have a balance good and evil. God and Goddess. If you are kind to others they'll be kind to you. If you treat people like sh*t they'll do the same to you. It's really sad that most believe that witches, pagans, wiccans, druids etc. worship the devil. It's nice to see someone trying to take a rational look at other peoples beliefs. Kudos to you and Blessed Be on your journey to change the world. I hope for the better.

Gods were created by man, out of neccessity because he lacked understanding of the world around him. As we progressed we quickly realised that praying to stone statues etc. was not saving the crops, or stopping earthquakes. So, very conveniently, the God of today is invisible. The more gullible in this world still believe in a God. Of course there are still earthquakes etc, but he now assumes a different role, that of a little fellow that resides in peoples heads. He certainly does not exist.

I had no spiritual connection to the Judaic god. Sorry, it just wasn't working out. Also, the teachings of Christianity (not Christ, who was actually a good person) really turned me away. Sorry, I am no man's possession or plaything, and I don't appreciate being told that's all that is in store for my life. I can be anything, do anything, that I want to!
I prefer to see the Higher Power in the way that Wicca portrays it, as One divided into Two equal halves, male and female.

It is a matter of how one is brought up as a child. If your parents took you to church every Sunday, and your social circle revolved around readings of the Bible and praying before every meal, then you have no choice but to be a believer, you don’t know anything else… And vice versa. And then… which God? – Every religion has a different (name for) God… If I were a Buddhist, do you consider that believing in God or not?!
