Heartworms are carried by mosquitoes. If a mosquito bites the diseased dog, and then bites any other dog in the neighborhood, the disease can be passed to every dog that the mosquito bites.

Revolution, a new product, applies to the skin, and protects all dogs from heartworm, even if bitten by a carrier mosquito.

all puppies are born with worms.....i think worms are not actually contagious as like being around another puppy but dogs eating fecal matter and stuff can transfer...i think....either way it is not a good thing and fairly weasy to treeat if done early....if not treated early enough can cause the dog or pup serious pain and trouble and it would be better to ease the suffering. some worm treatments you can get at wal-mart but i think heart worms are vet only, not sure tho. plus the wal-mart meds although good satisfiers, are diluted so much that almost a waste of money, so pay the 8 bucks and get treated at the vet it is not expensive by any means

Heartworms are blood parasites, not intestinal worms... so don't rely on over the counter "wormers" to prevent heartworms. The only effective heartworm preventives for pets are prescription medicines made specifically for heartworm prevention that you should get from your vet. Heartworm Prevention is inexpensive and should be given monthly.

Mosquitos are the transmitters of heartworm disease.

is your dogs on month-to-month worming drugs? if so, your dogs would desire to be nice. the worming drugs prevents your dogs from getting worms for the main area. with the aid of fact which you're asking this question, i do no longer think of your dogs is on worming drugs. i might take a poop pattern to the vet out of your dogs. you in all hazard don't be responsive to what variety of worms she had, with the aid of fact which you probably did no longer point out it. the main uncomplicated worms in dogs are roundworms. even however, i advise taking a pattern to the vet with the aid of fact there additionally are microscopic worms that stay in dogs. those can basically be considered by ability of a stool pattern. you're saying your dogs isn't a poop eater, yet you in no way be responsive to what variety of exchanges they did. maximum dogs play particularly heavily with one yet another. they try against, lick each others physique factors, lick one yet another interior the mouth, and so on. how do you be responsive to your dogs hadn't stepped in a number of her poop, or licked her butt? you in no way be responsive to till you watch their each pass. even then, there remains hazard. that is sort of like taking your pup to a place it is contaminated with parvo. in the adventure that your dogs isn't vaccinated, there's a hazard he can get parvo. you may in no way be too careful.
