Yes, Duran was injured in a car wreck in October of 2001. He suffered from a collapsed lung, broken ribs and other injuries. However, even then he might still have continued fighting, but his slow recovery prevented him from fighting again after five decades in the sport. His fight against Hector Camacho earlier that year was his last. He's now promoting boxing cards and does some commentary.
