Yes, Americans and English people will both write it the same way, 06/06/06, instead of like 05/06/06 was yesterday to an English person, but it was the 6th of last month for an American.

Writing on the 7.6.06 (6.7.06 in the USa), I am very tossed off about the 6.6.06 because I have only just found out that all my library books were due back then, so I will have to pay an enormous fine and will have no money for my dinner.
